The famous Georgian City of Bath is just 13.5 miles away. Here we have the Roman Baths Museum where you can walk on Roman Paving Stones and discover the secrets of Bath's unique, natural thermal waters. The 15th century Abbey, the historic Pump Rooms and the new Thermae Bath Spa (opening Summer 2003) located right in the heart of the City. With just a short walk away, Georgian architectural gems can be found - The Royal Crescent built in the 1700's by John Wood, The Circus built slightly earlier by his father and the Assembly Rooms which was the Georgian centre of entertainment where musicians such as Johan Strauss and Franz List performed. Also other landmarks such as Pulteney Bridge, one of only two in the World with shops built on each side of the bridge.
Wells is the smallest city in England and is only 11 miles away, this is a lovely
place to visit and has a beautiful cathedral with a World famous clock. The
Bishop of Bath and Wells Palace and is famous for the swans on the moat who
ring a bell when it is time to be fed.
Longleat House and Safari Park are only 14 miles from the Hotel and is and excellent
day out for the whole family. Drive through the monkey jungle and Lion enclosures,
take a trip on the safari boat to meet the local sea lions, Hippos and Gorillas
on Gorilla Island, or take a historical tour through the Longleat house, home
to Lord Bath himself.
Also in the area to visit are Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Weston-Super-Mare,
shopping at Clarks Village at Street and Glastonbury. The historic World Heritage
Site Stonehenge is only 30 miles away. If you go across into Wiltshire, stop
off at Bradford on Avon an ancient Saxon town with river and canal walks and
Country Park. There are many more attractions within easy driving distance of
the hotel.
